After the incident of 9/11, the word "terrorist" has been associated mostly with Muslims and in non-Muslim countries they and their religious beliefs are views with suspicious and taken as of extreme or fundamental in nature.
In the modern world, where media plays significant role in daily life affairs and has the special capability of building or altering perception of a large group of their audience by the way of presenting the facts and figure regarding a certain issue and influence the thinking of an individual because usually people think what they see or listen.
Sadly, when it comes to Muslims or their religion Islam, the media ,especially Western media, choose to present the facts and figures about Muslim and their region in such ambiguous manner that it depicts the Muslims and their religion Islam as fundamentalist and extreme in nature.
Thus, creating a kind of hatred or ignite a sense of fear among their audience for the Muslims as they might do some kind of terrorist activity against non-Muslims or their religious beliefs prompt them to indulge any such violent activity.
There are different definitions of terrorism and different political scholars defines it according to their own words and thinking. But in general the terrorism can be defined as:
The unlawful use of force or any violent act against persons or property to intimidate or coerce the Government, or the civilian population to achieve any political, religious or social objective.
So, according to this definition of terrorism, it can be rightly said that anyone who indulge any such act that falls within the limits of this definition could be termed as "terrorist". But not really, as it seems that apparently modern world media is only interested in bestowing this term "terrorist" to those offenders, who are either Muslim or at least possess a Muslim name.
